Russell, Kim and family are home.
The family arrived just a few minutes ago to DFW. No new news on Reno right now.

The family did not make it back from Anchorage today. More delays. I am assuming, and I'm making this from a discussion with a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, that since Reno died off of the military base that the city police are handling the investigation and that could involve a brief review of how he died, an autopsy, a coroner's report, etc. Once this is done, they will release his body to the military, and then the military can take over from there. I haven't talked to Kim or Russell so I'm not sure about this, just a hypothesis. The newest schedule has them arriving tomorrow, Thursday, around 5pm, at DFW. Reno's passing was on KRLD today, and in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram.
Arrival update
Not sure of the reason but Russell & Kim will be flying back on Thursday, not Wednesday. Same arrival time 1 pm Central time! Talked to her Tuesday evening. She got upset a couple times but overall sounded much much beter. Asked 'bout Russell. She said he was doing good. He had an ear infection and had been told by the Doc, "no scuba diving and no flying". I think it would be nice at this time to pray for their safe and comfortable, as possible, return. Kim is very anxious to get home to the support of her loving family and wonderful friends!

I talked to Mom this afternoon. Appears that the family is flying home tonight. Leaving anchorage around 1:00am and getting into DFW around 1pm. I don't know the details on the flight number or gate. I also don't have any new information on the transportation of Reno at this time. Wade funeral home in arlington will be handling the funeral services.
Reno passed at 7:29 pm yesterday. Arrangements are being made to fly him and the family back to Dallas as soon as possible. Preliminary arrangements are being made for services at Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington and burial at the Armed Services Cemetary in Grand Prairie. They are trying to get home as quickly as possible. More when I know more.

I spoke with Kim this afternoon at 4pm our time. She and Russell and Brandi have decided to take Reno off of the respirator. This will allow him to breathe on his own for as long as is possible. The doctors have determined that is brain is dead, that there is no activity whatsoever. They say he will never regain any consciousness. So they have made the difficult decision to let him go and be with God if that is God's will. It's almost 8:00pm now and I haven't heard anything else from her. As soon as I know I will post it here. Please pray for all of the family...Brandi, Russell, Kim, Kassidy, and Chad as they endure the upcoming decisions they will have to make. Please be ready to support them upon their return. They will need all of our love, prayers, and support to help them through this terrible, tragic incident that's taken one of their children from them. I will keep you posted as I know more.

Day One, Sunday, March 25, 2012
Last night Reno was involved in some kind of accident where he was caught between two vehicles and is in intensive care at the Air Force base hospital in Alaska. Kim called me this morning and I'll do my best to relay the situation. I will provide her with the blog site so she can post when she wants to. Please subscribe on this page with your email so that you can be kept up to date with the posts.
Reno was not on duty, but was working on a couple of cars when the accident happened, crushing him between two cars. On top of that he was outside for an extended period of time and hypothermia has a collapsed lung that they were able to re-inflate, but there's a problem with swelling on his brain. He is not on life support right now. The doctors say they're on a "wait and see" status right now. Kim and Russell are on a 4pm flight today to Alaska, will arrive around midnight. I might hear from them tonight, more likely tomorrow. Brandi is doing as well as can be expected with the kids and being in a new city, not knowing that many people.
Either Kim or I will be posting, so either check in at the site to see what's been posted, or subscribe by email so you can stay up on the latest postings automatically via email.
And pray for Reno and his family.
